photos from a warm winter day

It’s not often that it is 51 degrees on January 30th in western NY. I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather today and went for a long hike on the nature preserve behind my house. It was great looking for so many colors with it being so brown out.

Shipping from New Zealand is EXPENSIVE!

I found an amazing album company out of New Zealand that I REALLY want to work with for 2006 and 2007. Quite simply, the albums they produce are amazing… but most companies have a few winners in their lineup so high quality wasn’t the only thing that sold me on them. Bound to Last is especially great because they are allowing me to offer you two different types of albums at the same price (contemporary storybook and traditional matted) AND they are also allowing me to offer a Brady Dillsworth Designer Wedding Album that will be the highest quality wedding album ever made (seriously, it will be, I am all about quality) and will be totally, 100%, completely custom, so your Brady Dillsworth Designer Wedding Album will be a true one of a kind creation that is guaranteed to be exactly what you want.

The only downside is that you pay heavily for unparalleled quality and originality, so in order to allow every one of my clients to afford an amazing wedding album I am offering three tiers of albums so you don’t have to sacrifice quality when you order your wedding album.

The first series of wedding album is a Designer Series, these albums are very high quality with 24 pages, book cloth covers and come in either matted pages or digital storybook pages.

The second series of wedding album is a Master Designer Series, these albums are very high quality with 40 pages, more cover options and come in either matted pages or digital storybook pages.

The third series of wedding album is the one that I am super-excited about, this is the Brady Dillsworth Designer Wedding Album Series and is literally anything that you can dream of. The album can be as large or small as you would like, the book cover can be anything that you would like, the design can be anything that you would like, the color can be anything that you would like and more… seriously, anything that you want can go into or onto this wedding album.

I should have my samples in just a week or two. I need to find a courier that won’t charge the cost of a new house to ship my wedding albums to New York first.

Have a great day

New video and bridal show

I met with one of my assistants and my good friend, Brad, on Thursday to film some video for my site. We shot around 15 minutes of footage and cut the final project back to around 2:30 for the site. Check it out, you should get a great feeling for Brad and I. There will be many more videos coming, I hope look forward to them.

I exhibited at a great Bridal Show in Rochester today in Henrietta, NY. The show was a huge success and there was a literal buzz around my booth for a good part of the afternoon. At some times there were four or five or even six couples talking to me and looking at my images at once. I handed out so much promo material that I almost ran out, I was down to about 20 pieces remaining when the show ended.

I had brides coming up to me telling me that other brides and vendors were telling them to stop by to check out my portfolio, how cool is that! I was set up right next to a great travel agent, so everyone who was getting information for their honeymoon was also seeing my dynamic portraits and talking to me for 5-10 minutes at a time. I spoke with so many people that I lost my voice by the end of the day, which is totally fine, since it was all worth it.

Black and white bride

My assistant Brad (see him in the video) was supposed stop by the show to help me talk to clients but he had to cancel last minute, which was no problem at all, so I was left alone to speak with all of the clients. It was so absolutely busy that I never had the chance to stop to get my lunch, so this other really great wedding photographer, Amanda Petran’s partner, brought a lunch down to me so I could eat without leaving the clients, that was so great, I love nice people like that.

I met the mother of one of my high school friends at the show, her family owns a catering business in Rochester (email me if you want the info, I forgot to pick up a card). It was good to see her and get caught up on what her son is doing now, as I haven’t spoken with him in a year or two. I also met a wedding photographer, Alan Farkas, that I have known for a while that had always been working in high quality commercial advertising photography. Alan was exhibiting and had some great wedding images to share, check out his wedding and commercial site, he has some great stuff on there.

The people from Bella Vita Bridal and Floral Expression had the booth across from me and had a pretty elaborate setup, especially compared to my minimalism approach, which was drawing all sorts of people in. That really helped to get a lot of foot traffic up to talk to me. When we had a few minutes of downtime the dress model came over to look at my photos, then the owner came over to look at my photos, then an employee came over to look at my photos and then another person from their booth came over to look at my photos, the people at Floral Expressions and I hit it off well, I will stop by their store soon and leave some promo cards for them. It was great having such professional neighbors at this show; I think that played a big role in my success.

It was awesome to see so many people respond so positively to my wedding photojournalism, I am really looking forward to talking to everyone this week on the phone and by email. If you stopped by the bridal show to see me today I really enjoyed meeting you and I appreciate your support.

Have a great day

Great new wedding products

I have spent the last few hours putting together some amazing new product pages. Check this out… an Apple iPod Video player to go along with your wedding package. That has got to be one of the coolest ideas in a long time and now you can add that plus more on to any of the three wedding packages that I offer. Check the link out for more detail.

Also, you can add on a custom designed signature journal, save the date cards and thank you cards. All of the details are on the prices and package page, found here

Flowers from the studio

I had a meeting with two great clients, Jessica and Andrew, on Thursday that booked a wedding for 8/26 in Rochester. They are really into photojournalism for weddings and they seem like they will be open to lots of great and creative photos.

Before the meeting I met with Garry Geer again at his downtown studio to shoot a little with the Nikon D2x. Enjoy the flowers.

The first of many posts

Oops… here is the second release, I think I deleted the first by mistake.

I have just launched a new blog on BradyDillsworth.com to keep you up to date with my latest assignments, fun photo-sessions and other things.

On Thursday I met with a good friend and my photography mentor, Garry Geer, to create fashion style lighting with just two or three pieces of lighting gear. The whole purpose is to create more dynamic (or ‘better’) wedding portraits while only using 10-20 seconds of setup time. We met at his condo in Pittsford and then went to the local church and asked permission to photograph each other inside. Of course we were given permission, so we spent around 45 minutes photographing one another with just portable camera flashes, medium sized pop-up diffusion discs and an off-camera cable. The lighting we made was awesome, Garry, me plus one of my assistants, Brad, will use this style lighting on a model (or maybe just ourselves…) in the next week or so and post up some of the amazing results that you can expect us to use at your wedding. You will be shocked by how great the lighting is, especially considering that we can set it up without light stands or cables in just 10 or 20 seconds.

On Wednesday I got my hair cut for an up coming bridal show. I went to a place in Canandaigua, New York, called Park West Hair Design, I am pretty pleased with the result. I will try to post some photos this week. The bridal show is on this Sunday, I am expecting to draw a lot of attention with the few tricks I have up my sleeve. Also, who could resist stopping to look at a 20×30″ of some of the photos that I have taken this year, I think those alone will be responsible for bringing plenty of people by to talk with me.

It is the middle of wedding booking season, I have been spending much of my time over the past two weeks on the telephone, in meetings or sending out contracts via email. I am very excited about the number of people that have been contacting me about photographing their wedding, the best part is that most of the clients have been out of state, which means destination weddings!

These are some photos from last week when I took a relaxing hike through Hi Tor in Naples, New York.
