e-session, wedding and cookout

I have an engagement session in the morning in Rochester followed by some fun time out on the lake with the clients Jo and Christie. We are going to have lunch then take the boat out on the lake for some swimming :) . Jo and Christie’s wedding is on Tuesday at the Glen Iris in at Letchworth State Park. It should be a good time, weekday weddings are always nice.

Look forward to some new 2007 packages and prices coming out this week. I am finalizing them now and should have them online by Friday. I am also going to be updating the galleries this and next week so you should start to see more pictures that are new to you :)

I am interested in the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 or 3 head phones, if anyone has any experience with them email me with what you know.

Stacey and Joe’s album is here!

Stacey and Joe, I hope that you like this wedding album draft. I designed this album to be as great as possible and I hope that you love how amazing it looks :)

In other news, I contacted Verbatim’s tech support (the blank disc company) over a week ago about a spindle of damaged DVDs that I bought. No one was able to take my call and so I was instructed to leave a detailed voice message and that someone would call me back soon. Maybe I have my hopes set too high but I seriously think that someone should have called me back that day or maybe even a day later. It has now been about 10 days and I have gotten no phone call. I do not suggest that anyone buys Verbatim discs for the simple fact that the company cannot be easily reached when a problem exists. I will call again on Monday in the hopes that maybe they lost the voice message or something else.

The American Express OPEN webcast about Brand Building was GREAT! I took a lot away from it and I suggest that everyone watch it :)

One of my buddies from an online photo forum (we haven’t met in person yet, he is a west coaster and I am on the east coast) just got engaged. Check out his story and the slideshow of his proposal. He had a photographer there to capture the whole thing. If you are interested in having a photo series done with your proposal give me a call, I travel world-wide and I’d love to do it :) . Imagine the wedding album that could be designed with a proposal, engagement session, dinner with family, golf game with friends, girls day at the spa and finally the wedding, it would be unbelievable!

Have a great day and check out Stacey and Joe’s album draft!

Stacey and Joe’s album, coming soon!

Stacey and Joe’s wedding album proof is about half designed right now, I am really excited about getting it online :) . I emailed the proof to a few people and showed my mother and everybody has fallen in love with it! One of the elements that will make it special is that during dinner all of Stacey and Joe’s friends put on an amazing play with great costumes and it is going to fit in the album beautifully. I can’t wait to show you guys, Stacey and Joe, hopefully you can take a sneak peak at it while you are in Italy :)

If you are a business owner or are interested in branding I suggest that you take a look at this site tonight and register to watch the 7:40pm webcast. As long as these thunderstorms don’t knock out my power I’ll watch it and write a blog article about it tomorrow :) .

I have decided to make my notebook computer my album design system and keep my desktop as my photo editing system. My basic thoughts are that the desktop has a great monitor that is always color corrected and so the pictures that are edited on it will be perfect. Once a photograph has been edited it won’t need to be touched up again so the notebook is fine for design because all I am doing is laying out the page, it does not need to have a color accurate monitor.

I think I am going to photograph the Buffalo Bills training camp this year at St John Fisher College; I’ll have to send some emails to confirm a time and date :)

Have a great week!

mid-week thoughts

All of the wedding photographers that I talked to across the country said that they had the most extreme weather during Saturday’s wedding. I heard of ranges from 105 degrees with direct sun to 55 degrees with pouring rain and flash flood warnings. The great news is that all of the wedding photos turned out great :)

The next WPJA contest ends in a few hours. I submitted my images this morning and think I picked a few winners! The hardest part is the self-editing, if I look at 100 of my most photojournalistic images I can see why each and every one of them could win. Once the winners are announced I will post all of the ones that I entered :)

Does anyone want to get married in Ireland? I have always wanted to photograph a wedding in Ireland but don’t have any clients getting married there. If you are looking for a great place to get married consider Ireland then give me a call, my passport is valid and my images are great :)

I think I am going to update the galleries on my website this week. I have a lot of great photos from the year that no one has really seen. What does everyone think; do you prefer still photo galleries or slideshows? Email me and let me know your thoughts :)

I wonder if UPS will send me a Christmas card this year. I send and receive so many packages that my UPS driver is at my house anywhere from 1-3 times each week. I am glad that I am giving him job security :)

I guess there is/was a TV show called A VERY BRADY WEDDING about one of the old Brady Bunch actors marrying a model and putting the whole thing on VH1. Since my name is Brady and I photograph weddings very well I keep getting tons of visitors to my site on the search term A VERY BRADY WEDDING on Google, LIVE, Yahoo and Ask… sorry people, no Brady Bunch wedding photos here :(

Have a great week!

Amazing wedding with amazing people

Saturday’s wedding was amazing, both the pictures and the personalities of the people in attendance… it was so great that I actually stayed for a few extra hours and made some world class images.

After working with Frank DiMeo a few weeks ago I became inspired to increase the quality of my already great lighting to really give my clients something special. At today’s wedding I applied what I picked up from Frank and I think that you’ll see my lighting is unbelievable. Beyond making great images through better lighting I actually was able to remove the editing step from my slideshow creation process because the pictures came out of the cameras nearly perfect so I had a full show on my computer in 5-10 minutes.

The slideshow that I presented today was great, I put 50 images on my computer and I think everyone saw it at least once and quite a few people saw it two or three times. I saw lots of Stacey and Joe’s engagement portrait cards being taken, which have their site address on them :)

I am sharing almost twice as many wedding photographs today as usual since it was really difficult to pick out my favorites :)

My younger brother assisted this wedding with me; here is a photo that he took… I think it is pretty good! I am glad that he helped out.

There were a lot of personal touches that came through during this wedding. Several people played music or sang songs and many of Stacey and Joe’s friends put on an amazing play during dinner. The wine came from Stacey’s father’s vineyard, the ceremony took place on the farm where Joe grew up and the reception took place at the estate of Stacey’s father. Both Stacey and Joe have the look of classic beauty and many of the guests commented on that about the wedding slideshow and their engagement portraits. I really had a lot of fun at this wedding and I can’t think of anything that wasn’t perfect.

Stacey and Joe, enjoy your two weeks in Italy :)

I hope you enjoyed the photos; I had a great time making them!

My DHL driver is having a bad week :(

It is hard to follow up that Skaneateles Lake picture post with just some words about my week and weekend :)

This week was crazy with both great and not-so-great customer service coming from all directions. The basic story is that I ordered some prints from my lab for this weekend’s wedding and they were promptly shipped, however DHL was not able to find my address (which they have delivered to 5 times in 6 months) on their GPS system and so my package sat at the Henrietta NY office for 7 days until I filed a complaint with the company. After a little delay the local DHL rep called me up and explained the situation and after I told him that this package was time sensitive he guaranteed it to be at my home by Friday AM, which it was. I had also emailed my lab about the problem but heard no reply, they said that their spam filters only let emails in with a certain text in the subject line so my email to them about the DHL issue was not read until Jonathan (of Jonathan and Rachel for 2007) emailed the lab for me from the company office that owns the lab. It was all taken care of and I am glad to know that I was not being ignored and it was just technology at work. Since I had no way of knowing that the prints would be to my front door on time I actually ordered a duplicate set from my local lab and picked them up as backup… I guess I’ll show them off as samples :) . I ordered three frames for three 4×6″ prints from Skaneateles Lake yesterday and my framer in Rochester did not have the frame in stock that I wanted so I ordered a better and more expensive one, that means that Stacey and Joe (tomorrow’s wedding) got a free frame upgrade for their three prints, congratulations!

I feel a little sad for our DHL delivery man, he has been making a lot of mistakes recently and I hope that things start to go better for him. After the past and present issues with delivering to me I actually saw our DHL deliveryman get into a little van accident about 15 minutes from my house. He was backing down a steep driveway and apparently misjudged the turn and went off the driveway down the ditch a little ways with both right side tires. Even if his truck was four wheel drive he was stuck bad enough where a tow truck probably had to get him out. I sure am glad that my package was delivered before the accident :)

I went to lunch with my parent’s today at the restaurant Pepper’s in Canandaigua. The food was pretty good and the service was great. I had a barbeque chicken wrap and it was delicious.

The wedding today is going to be great; I am very excited about all of the great locations. The timeline might be a little bit optimistic but it all should work out alright in the end.

Have a nice day :)

Skaneateles Lake with everyone

I had an amazing time at Skaneateles Lake with Frank, Luke, Bob, Matt and Sarah, the best wedding photographers in the region. It was a good mix of business and fun and I have the awesome photographs to prove it.

These pictures don’t even begin to show off how great it was, I can’t wait until we all meet again :) . Thanks Luke and Matt for taking the photos.

Today was a great day, I love having a job where this is considered working!

baseball game

I lost phone and internet service yesterday and it was odd not being able to get in touch with people. I never noticed how many emails I write in a day until I had them all saved in my drafts folder. It was a nice break though; I read my book and burned a dozen DVDs worth of data.

I am going to a baseball game with the 2007 clients Jonathan and Rachel in August. I am excited; I think it will be a lot of fun :)

This weekend’s wedding is going to be great. I start off at a farm over Canandaigua Lake for the ceremony and portraits then move onto a vineyard over Keuka Lake for the portraits and reception. I have my reception slideshow system all streamlined now; I think I can get a 50 picture show on my computer and running in less than 15 minutes!

Expect to see a new way for future clients to get to know me. I am in the process of creating a short 30 page bio-book that will basically tell my story, show my images and present my packages all in one concise place. I think this is very important since the vast majority of my clients are from out of state and I usually don’t meet them until the week before the wedding. I think this is going to be a nice way for people to get a feel for my personality at their convenience. I am using a fine art printing company to create these books, my sample comes in this week, and if everything is great then I will have a series made up soon :)

Have a great day!
