dillsworth.net and stocks

I love it when stocks are down… it means I get to buy more shares and make more money!

Most of the large cap stocks that I am watching are down between 3% and 10% and I just freed up a bunch of cash for buying :) .

If you have no idea what I am talking about then watch the news tonight, this will probably be a big story.

I launched a new website today, check it out online at www.Dillsworth.net.

Have a great day!

my messy hair

The second version of the BlackBerry 8800 should have wifi connectivity. I believe that it will be named the BlackBerry 8820 and I am excited.

I haven’t shown any recent photos of myself so here is one that I just took, messy hair and all :) .

church on a saturday

Today was quite the contrast to my usual reasons for going to church. Instead of photographing a wedding for one of my many young clients… I attended the funeral of one of my young high school friends.

Matt and I were neighbors from roughly fourth grade to sixth grade and were good friends. I moved and we remained friends until probably ninth or tenth grade… after that point we started to grow apart, however we still connected a few times each year. Around September or October he called me on three occasions wanting to get back together, but with it being wedding photography season we never managed.

On Monday, Matt died in his parent’s home.

I wasn’t interested in photography when we were friends, so I doubt that I have any photographs to share.

Have a great day!

innovation capitalist

Read page 24 in March’s Harvard Business Review if you receive it. The article is about Innovation Capitalists, here is an excerpt from the article:

Innovation capitalists are firms , often with a particular industry expertise, that seek out and evaluate ideas and technologies from the inventor community and other external sources. They develop and refine those ideas to the point where their market potential is validated, and they then pitch them to large client firms. An innovation capitalist reduces a client company’s acquisition costs and early stage risks. In return, it shares in the proceeds from the innovation.

That’s what I want to be when I grow up! That sounds like a really amazing business :) .

The new BlackBerry 8800 has been released on Cingular!

Have a great day!

standby for NYC

Working with my friend Leland is always interesting… I am on “standby” for a potential meeting in NYC for the next few weeks. Haha, I’ll probably get around a day of notice before I have to leave to meet him :) . I’ll tell you about the meeting, if it happens.

I have 15 packages to be mailed today… I’m not looking forward to this postage bill ;) .

I received a shipment of 1,000-5.5×8.5″ two sided full color wedding photography post cards and 1000-business cards today. They look awesome! They will be distributed over the next 3 months in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse. The box is really heavy, I was shocked when I picked it up.

I haven’t worked out in a while, I am feeling fat, weak and tired. Since I just got another big push of work done it is time to get back into exercising so I can feel excellent again!

Have a great day!

Mediocrity always attacks excellence

Did you see Oprah today? It was part two of The Secret so I decided to tune in and I am glad that I did.

The Secret

Anyhow, at one point one of the guests said “mediocrity always attacks excellence” and in my experience, that is 100% correct.

Have a great day!

Dog Day Afternoon

About a year or two ago I saw thirty minutes of an amazing movie but I fell asleep before it finished. I have been trying and trying to figure out what the movie was called but all I could remember was that it was an older movie that focused on a really interesting robbery…

I have finally figured out the name of the movie! It is called Dog Day Afternoon and is a 1975 film featuring Al Pacino.

dog day afternoon

I highly recommend buying it. I will write a short review after I watch the parts that I slept through :) .

Have a great day!

Happy Valentines Day
