I haven’t lifted weights in about a month because I have been so busy with work. Last night, I lifted weights again and I didn’t drop my weight amounts by very much and my arms are killing me… seriously, I can hardly lift them above my waist!
I’m going to be in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to see my friend Shannon (assuming that the fires don’t burn up all of California and prevent me from landing in Long Beach… they were only a few minutes from her in La Mirada as of today) and in Seattle/Tacoma on Friday and Saturday to photograph a fight for Showtime.
We took some portraits in the Sunken Gardens at Highland Park… then we got caught in a torrential downpour. I wish I had more behind the scenes photos to show you… the limo driver was holding up an umbrella for the bride and the groom, I was standing behind them (in the rain) holding my cameras above their head beneath the umbrella. Jim (my second photographer) and Rich (the videographer) were standing underneath my 42″ silver and white reflector (which is definitely not water proof, haha) trying to keep somewhat dry, then there were three or four other umbrellas trying to keep the whole wedding party plus both sides of the family as dry as possible. Now, before you ask, I do have four umbrellas that I carry with me to weddings, but they were in the trunk of my car which was not very close to where we were standing. We weren’t expecting rain and the sky did not look ominous, so I didn’t bother to bring them with me
Aside from the rain, everything else went very well. The decorations were beautiful, the sky was pretty, the food was excellent and the DJ and the band kept everyone entertained!
The groom’s sister, Katie, is also a wedding photographer and was a big help in keeping things organized. Plus, she let me play with some cool equipment that I don’t yet own.
A trillion opportunities present themselves everyday and I love the excitement of spotting one and capitalizing on it!
Just yesterday, I acquired a remarkable domain name that perfectly represents my wedding photography business. I never expected it to become available and was excited when I was able to reserve it until 2017… in a few weeks I will launch it and you can decide for yourself whether it is as valuable as what I think it is
Speaking of opportunity, my second photographer, Jim Dolan, took this exceptional portrait at my Saturday wedding while I was setting the bride up in some amazing light. Expect to see more photos from this wedding in a few days.
I finished the last book in the Harry Potter series yesterday… I’m not generally a huge fan of fiction and didn’t know what to expect, but it ended up being the best fiction series that I have ever read, the ending of the seventh book was amazing and very well done. I recommend reading the Harry Potter series if you haven’t yet
I am using this as a second display on my notebook computer and am keeping my 19″ calibrated CRT on my desktop, where I have the wedding photos color corrected.
I have replied to all of your emails and am making my way through the phone list now, I plan to return all of the calls that came in while I was ill by 8pm tonight.
I was just cleaning my desk and put all of the loose business cards that I have collected this year into a pile. Wow, it is amazing, I have a stack of business cards almost 6″ thick!
I have a bunch of traveling to do in the near term, it should be fun
Leland and I have spent much of our free time lately examining several unique business opportunities. I’ll start to let you in on the details as time goes by and we make progress.
My friend Shannon sent me a great birthday gift a few days ago. It was one of my all time favorite black and white photos, and happened to be of her
I haven’t shaved in about 2-weeks… I think it is about time, haha.
"We were planning our wedding from across the country, so we were thrilled to find Brady’s very helpful website from which we could get a really good sense of what the whole collection of pictures from a single wedding would look like. As evidenced in this photo set and many others, Brady has great skill at capturing the people and emotions of a wedding, which is exactly what we wanted!
We are extremely happy that we had Brady photograph our special day, and love the pictures. My family isn’t always the best picture takers (home albums are filled with closed eyes, for one), and despite that, Brady captured many beautiful shots of all of us and our surroundings as we celebrated. Sure, we took a break for a few formal shots, but the vast majority of pictures are simply capturing the moments of the day as they happened, and do so very well.
While the photos themselves are the central component, working with Brady (and second photographer Jim) was also a pleasure, both in preparing, and on the day-of, with both arriving on-time, with ideas for places for nice shots, and taking pictures unobtrusively throughout the day. We had a great day, and look forward to enjoying the beautiful photos documenting it for years to come!" Hanna Popick - Bride
"We couldn't have asked for a better experience; Brady captured so many precious moments from our wedding, without us even knowing he was there. His professionalism and laid back personality were a perfect fit for us and his pictures gave us and our families so much joy." Katherine Bryant Flaherty - Bride
“We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer to capture the wedding of our son. Indian weddings are invariably loaded with rituals and Brady executed his assignment admirably without missing a single significant element. He is an obliging, conscientious, unassuming, pleasant and down to earth young professional who met our expectations to our fullest satisfaction. The pictures that he captured speak of his fine photography skills.
My son Ashwin and our daughter-in-law Melinda have nothing but praise for his professionalism. We are fortunate that we had him cover the wedding and the reception.” Gopal & Devyani Alankar - Parents of the Groom
"Brady is the most talented young photographer around and an important part of Team Chambers; his boxing photos are the greatest since the era of Ali... we’ve got the greatest heavyweight fighter in the world working with the greatest photographer in the world, a hard combination to beat!" Rob Murray Sr. - World Heavyweight Contender 'Fast' Eddie Chambers - Manager
"Brady is one of the most detail oriented photographers I know. In the media business, the details, even the small ones, are important to the successful execution of a news photo assignment. Brady has excellent communication skills; he asks pertinent questions regarding challenges behind photo assignments and articulates follow up information after the completion of the request. Most importantly, Brady knows his craft and captures great pictures." Max Schulte - Democrat and Chronicle Newspaper - Assistant Photo Editor
Retired NBA star Manute Bol and political pollster John Zogby spent some time in Rochester with my friend Brad and I raising money for his school construction project in Southern Sudan.
