short post

I know I post this a lot, but if you are one of the many people who think that traveling for work is fun, I have to tell you that it sucks more than you can imagine!

Traveling for meetings is nothing like traveling for a vacation… you are taking the first and last flights of the day, wearing a suit, meeting tight deadlines and carrying the bare necessities to stay comfortable on the road.

On my way home from Philly (I was returning so that I could photograph this weekend’s wedding), the train hit a person, I missed all three flights that I was booked for or on standby for and I got to the airport at like 1am. I ended up staying right at the airport since it was silly to get a hotel room for just a few hours, so I walked around and watched people doing their jobs until 5am. By the time that I got home, I had been awake and meeting/traveling for 28.5 hours :)

I guess JetBlue’s policy is that if you are more than 4-hours late for your flight without calling, you forfeit the fare… and since I was a lot more than 4-hours late and had better things to do than call JetBlue, I was told that I would have to buy a new ticket to get home. Undeterred, I managed to get a new ticket for $0.00, be listed as a confirmed passenger versus as a standby passenger and to get an exit row aisle seat without having to pay the $10 or $15 fee for the bigger seats. I attribute it to being nice to the customer service person, instead of being one of the many stressed out travelers who yell at people who have nothing to do with travel delays.

The meetings went very well. Everything is progressing and I can’t wait to tell you what I am doing!

Many photos coming soon :)

Time for me to sleep before tomorrow’s wedding :)

Have a great day!

This is Jim

This is Jim, the photographer who helps me photograph weddings. He was a test subject while I scouted out locations for portraits at the wedding on Saturday.

Jim Dolan

Jim is very talented, usually around 1/4 to 1/3 of the wedding photographs that I post here are taken by him… you probably wouldn’t even know that if I didn’t tell you, it is because his photography style blends so well with mine :)

As soon as I get back from Philly, NYC and NJ, I will post some of my best wedding photographs to date, so look forward to it!

Two new posts below, so keep reading down the page :)

Have a great day!

:)

I can’t wait to post this weekend’s wedding for you to see!

colgate divinity ross and laura

I looked through around half of the photos and I am so excited… this is seriously one of the best weddings that I have photographed in a long time. It is hard to explain, but this wedding and the last one that I photographed (Statler Hotel in Buffalo) were both unbelievable. I think that, after all of these years (I’ve been doing this since I was 16, so 7 or 8 years), I have finally found my true style, the way to photograph weddings that represents the way that I actually see things :)

I am so glad that this wedding was practically perfect, because it literally could not have happened to anyone better… I think that Laura was one of my most excited brides ever!

I am going to post more photos than usual, so it will take me a few days to get them all ready :)

Have a great day!

Was there a fight at my wedding?!

Check back in a few days for the answer :)

Have a great day!

Have a great day!

flying, observatory and pictures, finally!

I don’t drive much, so don’t really notice the day-to-day increases in gas… but I do fly a lot and I have been shocked by the price of tickets lately!

Two years ago, I used to be able to fly last minute from Rochester to JFK on JetBlue for less than $100 round trip… today, that same last minute flight is just a little under $400, plus, it now costs extra to select the larger seats (it was $10/each way once and then $20/each way the second time, so I don’t know what it actually costs for the more-legroom seats). If you are not familiar with the Rochester to JFK route, it is a short little 55-minute flight (that usually takes more like 45-minutes on account of my always flying the red-eye) at 20,000 feet.

Hotels don’t seem to have raised their rates by a noticeable amount yet, but I am sure that it is coming soon.

I can’t wait to see what kind of rebates and financing options will come out on big trucks and SUVs later in the year… once the 2009 models start shipping and gas reaches higher than $5/gallon, I’m sure you’ll see Ford, GM and Toyota trying to give away their Expeditions, Hummers and Tundras :)

I haven’t looked into it, but I am very interested to see what the resale value of cars like the Honda Civic, the Toyota Prius and the Mini Cooper have done over the past few months… as all of those vehicles are capable of pushing the 40mpg mark with conservative driving.

I went to the CEK Mees Observatory last night in Naples, which is managed by the University of Rochester. I listened to an excellent talk and got to see the 24″ telescope, however, it was a little too cloudy to see much, so I plan to go back later in the summer. I did see an iridium flare, which was pretty cool.

I haven’t posted any pictures in a long time, despite taking lots of them, so here are a few from my friend Brad’s grandfather’s birthday.

North Carolina

Do you know a lot about North Carolina?

If so, email me within the next few weeks, we have to talk :)

Have a great day!

Cingular voice mail

Apparently, if you don’t listen to unheard Cingular voice messages within 2-weeks, they get deleted…

I had 13-voice messages two days ago from the past couple of weeks and 4 this morning; if you were one of the 9 who left me a message on the 585-number, leave me another one or send an email, since I didn’t listen to what you said to me before it got deleted.

All the toll-free number voice messages have been saved and replied to :)

Sorry, been too busy for voice mail. At least emails don’t get erased after 2-weeks.

Have a great day!
